The brief for this project was to find a way to improve a daily journey in a way that improves it for many people. I looked at my own journey to London and noticed that there were often two or three trains leaving close together, usually a fast service followed by a semi-fast and then a stopping one. I observed a lot of people rushing for the fast service even though the slower ones were a lot emptier. I decided that it’d be interesting to create a data visualisation of crowd levels on each train, so people were able to see that they were able to have a much more comfortable journey if they were willing to arrive at their destination just a few minutes later.
